Bandar Anzali

Bandar-e Anzali is a harbor town and one of the most important seaports on the Caspian Sea. Anzali is the entrance to Europe and a key business path, bringing a great deal of wealth to the city. It is also a center of caviar production.

Founded in early 19th century, the town is situated on both sides of Anzali Lagoon. The port is located in a channel connecting two peninsulas.

Bandar-e Anzali embodies a small Island called Mian-Poshteh and the land around it. Its tourist spots include a clock tower named Menareh, the long harbor walkway, a delta, and a beach along Sefid-Rood (White River). Wonderful lagoon of Anzali, City Hall structure, Mian-Poshteh palace and Motamedi house are among other tourist attractions of this site.

The Anzali lagoon separates the Anzali port into two pieces. The town is linked to the Beheshti Island by two bridges. There is a caviar production factory in Bandar-e Anzali as well.

Menareh or the clock tower dates back to 1815 AD. Built as a lighthouse, which could be seen from the entire Anzali and the Caspian Sea, the structure is 28 meters high.

Bandar-e Anzali has one of the most humid climates in Iran. The warm and moist weather allows the county to produce different harvests such as rice and tea which need a great amount of moisture.

Anzali lagoon is well-known for its boat trips. The lagoon's beautiful water lily blossoms can be found at certain times of the year. Anzali lagoon is one of the most attractive places in Gilan Province.
